Recently, lot of posts on social media are doing rounds for the German patent getting granted to Indian Academic Institutions. These are essentially ‘Utility models’ and are filed in huge numbers as a part of the rat race for Accreditations and Rankings and are claimed as Patents. As a Patent professional working with various academic institutions, we tried to decode these filings in Germany.
